Appalachian Regional Healthcare System (ARHS) recently completed the newly renovated and expanded Heart & Vascular Center at Watauga Medical Center. Now we are introducing it to the community in a creative partnership with AppalCART.

AppalCART public transportation is part of the “heartbeat” of our community. So it makes sense that we would have a presence in the heart of the High Country through this project. We want to be a constant reminder to patients and families in the High Country that they can count on us to keep them in motion with national award-winning heart and vascular care.

High Country residents no longer have to leave the mountains for care from the nation’s top medical professionals. The Heart & Vascular Center is located inside Watauga Medical Center, allowing patients access to comprehensive intervention and diagnostic services. The Heart & Vascular Center provides more efficient and convenient access for patients, by integrating outpatient heart care with diagnostic services in the same convenient location.

Now with 24/7 coverage for acute heart interventional procedures (heart attack) at Watauga Medical Center, our providers can always be there for you in an emergency. Cardiologists, interventional cardiologists, emergency department providers and emergency first responders partner to diagnose problems with blood flow, blood pressure and valve function, which can save lives and reduce the chances of long-term damage.

When you see the Heart and Vascular Center bus on the Pop 105 route, remember that “exceptional care is just a heartbeat away.”
